We'd thought that the resurrection of the Z28 name for the upcoming high-end Camaro--which will have a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8--was a foregone conclusion. Sure, we'd heard that GM (NYSE:GM) is using the name "HP Edition," but we figured that was just internal speak. But now we're not so sure.

Car And Driver is reporting that other historic names are being considered, such as ZL-1 and IROC-Z. There might be other names out there that could also draw on Camaro history, much as the car itself does.

Whatever it's called, we expect it will be fast and powerful, with even better handling than the current top-dog SS. And we expect it will cost more, too.

Call it what you will, but Chevrolet probably hopes you don't call it slow.
